For Everyone Missing the Star Wars Crawl

December 17, 2016

I really enjoyed Star Wars: Rogue One, and I think it's because franchise movies, whether it's James Bond, Superman, or Star Wars, have a brand to them. They are modern day myths. And when the creators get out of their own way and allow themselves to reinvent the key structural elements in interesting ways, magic happens.

One thing people missed was the iconic Star Wars crawl that opens every movie to date. So I've provided one, summing up the major elements we all come to expect and love (and loathe) about this archetypal series.

For a more serious—and some would even say terrifying—look into what makes Star Wars so irresistible, check out the book the creators based the original trilogy's structure on, Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces.
